ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS        

Currently Care & Compassion International provides scholarships each July to the top-performing Grade 5 student at Tarrant Primary School and Chetolah Park Primary School.

The scholarships, dubbed the Clinton Dyer Scholarship and the Beverly Urquart Scholarship respectively are each worth $40,000.00.

The intention is to expand the programme in 2022 and offer two scholarships to the top-performing Male and Female Grade 5 students at the Maverly Primary and Junior High.

MARIE ATKINS NIGHT SHELTER MONTHLY OUTREACH

Each month, Care & Compassion International provides 200 cooked meals to the patrons of the Marie Atkins Night Shelter located at Hanover Street in downtown Kingston, Jamaica.

SEAVIEW GARDENS COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Seaview Gardens Community Outreach takes the form of the preparation of Lunches each Saturday and Breakfast each Wednesday.  

Care & Compassion partners with True Vine Pentecostal Church each Wednesday and Saturday in cooking and distributing almost 200 meals to the residents of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11.

RIVERTON CITY COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The Riverton City Community Outreach takes the form of the preparation of 100 Lunches each Saturday and 100 Breakfast each Friday.  

Care & Compassion partners with Ms. Claudette Hoilett (a resident of Riverton City) each Saturday and Friday in cooking and distributing almost 200 meals to the residents of Riverton City

MAVERLY COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The charity’s Maverly Community outreach is by far its most extensive and far-reaching initiative. The programme has a number of distinct aspects:

1. Saturday Lunch
2. Community Breakfast;
3. Maternity Saturdays;
4. Grocery Bags
5. Emergency Indigent Intervention
6. Carmen Richards Mobile Geriatric Clinic
7. Annual Back-to-School Fair; and
8. Community Year-end Dinner

SATURDAY LUNCH                              

Each Saturday, Care & Compassion International partners prepares and distributing almost 350 lunches to the residents of Maverly, Kingston 20.

COMMUNITY BREAKFAST

Currently, there are 150 elderly shut-in persons in Maverly and since Wednesday, November 7, 2018, Care & Compassion has been preparing and delivering porridge ((On a rotating basis: Peanut; Oats; Cornmeal and Hominy Corn) to each of the 150 elderly shut-ins and a further 150 other indigent persons.  The programme was only halted in April and May 2020 and otherwise continued unabated throughout the covid-pandemic.

MATERNITY SATURDAYS

Each 5th Saturday of each Quarter, Care & Compassion has a special initiative which targets expectant mothers in Maverly and those who only recently had their babies. Each of the expectant mother in Maverly /Drewsland are provided with the following:

  • Bath Basin
  • Nursing Jelly
  • Baby Lotion
  • Bath Towel
  • Baby Powder
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Bath Rags
  • Salve
  • Thermometer 
  • Baby Formula
  • Diapers
  • Baby Oil.            

 

GROCERY BAGS

Each Saturday, Care & Compassion International prepares and home-delivers 125 grocery bags to the elderly indigent in Maverly.

Package Includes:

  • Rice 
  • Bread Tissue
  • Tin Mackerel
  • Crackers
  • Oats
  • Bath Soap
  • Lasco Food Drink
  • Sugar
  • Cooking Oil
  • Green Tea
  • Flour

 

Annual Back-to-School Fair

On the third Saturday of August, Care & Compassion International presents its Annual Back-to-School Fair.

The fair which targets both residents of Maverly and Drews Land provides School Supplies; Free Health Checks; Free School Medicals and Meals for over 500 persons.

COMMUNITY YEAR-END DINNER

On the second Saturday in December, Care & Compassion International prepares and distributes to the residents of Maverly 400 two-meat meals:

  • Stew Beef
  • Fried Chicken
  • Gungo Rice & Peas
  •  Guava Juice
  • Fruit Cake

     

    EMERGENCY INDIGENT INTERVENTION  

    Care & Compassion assists a number of indigent persons in Maverley with emergencies such as examination fees; lunch money; medication; meals and repairs to their homes including but not limited to repairs to roofs.

    A special aspect of this programme is the provision of assistance prior to and in the aftermath of natural disasters.

    CARMEN RICHARDS MOBILE GERIATRIC CLINIC

    Launched on February 25, 2022, the Carmen Richards Mobile Geriatric Clinic visits a total of 30 elderly shut-ins at their homes six (6) times each year.  The clinic consists of three (3) teams consisting of one Medical Doctor, a Registered Nurse and a Practical Nurse.

    The teams each visit a list of 10 persons providing in-home medical care.

    Each month, our activities assist in providing approximately 4200 cooked meals along with groceries sufficient to prepare a further 2600 meals.  In addition, our health care activities are instrumental in providing critical care for those who would otherwise not be able to afford quality healthcare.
